    • About

Audubon Schools is a charter management organization operating two public charter schools in New Orleans. Our flagship school, Audubon Charter School - Uptown, was established in 1981 as a Montessori school which also became an official French School in an historical agreement between the French Government and the State of Louisiana. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, it was chartered in 2006 under the governance of the Board of French and Montessori Education, Inc. (FAME, Inc.). Audubon Uptown offers two unique programs, a Montessori program and a French program, for students in grades PK-8.

In response to overwhelming demand for our unique programming, Audubon Gentilly opened in Fall 2018 to enable more New Orleans students to have access to a high-quality, non-traditional education. This school combines the two programs offered at Audubon Uptown into one truly unique bilingual Montessori program. Audubon Gentilly currently serves students in grades PK - 5 and will add one grade level per year until reaching 8th grade.

Audubon’s mission is to foster a culturally rich and academically rigorous learning environment using French and Montessori curricula and a comprehensive arts curriculum.
