    NAWLIN’S HUNGRY GRINGOS

An a-political dining out initiative supporting local Hispanic Restaurants in the Hospitality Industry
Local videographer, Craig Kraemer, created Nawlin’s Hungry Gringos to support locally-owned Hispanic
restaurants. These restaurants are part of our important Hospitality Industry. Unfortunately, they are currently
under pressure, and many are struggling as their Hispanic customer bases have dwindled.

Food is central to New Orleans’ unique culture, our economy, and our way of life. Every successful restau-
rant business helps our local economy. Right now, Hispanic restaurants need support so we do not lose this

important segment of our culinary scene.
The purpose of Nawlin’s Hungry Gringos is to encourage people to eat out with family and friends, and enjoy
delicious Hispanic/Latin American food while helping to support these businesses.
Every week, groups of Hungry Gringos friends eat at any of our many Hispanic restaurants. The Gringos take
photos of their dishes and post them, along with brief descriptions, on the Nawlin’s Hungry Gringos Facebook
page. The goal is to raise awareness of the delicious and affordable food these restaurants offer, while
    stimulating much needed business.
Many of these restaurants are located in Kenner, and they offer a broad selection of Hispanic cuisines that
    Hungry Gringos can explore.
As Kraemer notes, “ Anyone who enjoys food can be a Nawlin’s Hungry Gringo! “
    Here’s how to become one:
    • Select a Hispanic Restaurant from the list on the Nawlin’s Hungry Gringos Facebook page,
    or do a Google search.
    • Go out and do what everyone in New Orleans loves to do: eat out with friends and family!
    • Try new or unfamiliar dishes.
    • Take photos of your food and post them on the Nawlin’s Hungry Gringos Facebook page, along with
    comments on your positive experiences.
New Orleanians are noted for our friendliness, vitality, and special pride in our acclaimed culinary scene that
    draws from many different cultures.
Keep our vibrant food culture going strong by becoming a Nawlin’s Hungry Gringo next time you eat
out with your friends and families!
