Description
We don’t have a region without flood protection.
Twenty years ago, voters reformed the region’s levee boards to put flood protection in the hands of experts and insulate it from politics. BGR supported those reforms and has continued to defend them.
Today, the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority – East is undergoing major changes in its leadership, staffing and operations, raising questions about the agency’s direction and focus.
At BGR’s fall Breakfast Briefing, “Keeping Levees First: Who’s Running Our Flood Protection?” BGR President & CEO Rebecca Mowbray will moderate a conversation with Blair duQuesnay of Citizens for 1 Greater New Orleans, State Senator Kirk Talbot and SLFPA-East Regional Director Jeff Williams about what’s changing, why it matters and what it means for the region’s flood protection.
