NOLA Stands Prompt Reveal Paint-offDescription
Join us this Saturday as three local artists reveal the first ever #NOLAstands interactive prompt. "NOLA Stands" is a community art installation that serves to aggregate community feedback through an interactive statue design. The installation was designed through a Tulane University placemaking course that brings together architect and social innovation students to ideate projects for Downtown New Orleans. The team who designed this project, Annie Heinrichs, Carter Righi, Joseph D'Arco, and Skelly Colen, utilized Design Thinking ideology to prototype and test the installation until they finalized a statue. The final product was inspired by the need to enhance Downtown and find a low-barrier way to retrieve community feedback. There are two key functions of the installation. 1. Each month the statue will be repainted, by a predetermined local artist, to reflect the given prompt. 2. Participants can text their answer to the prompt through a texting software. The answers will be populated on the "NOLA Stands" website.
