This center is expertly designed to improve financial well-being, generate wealth and create a stronger, more equitable New Orleans for every person.

The center’s approach will help low and moderate income households gain financial stability through an array of services, including financial education and coaching, benefits screening, incentivized savings and income tax assistance. Programming will be available to the public.

The New Orleans East Prosperity Center is the fourth of its kind for UWSELA, joining the original J. Wayne Leonard Prosperity Center in Mid-City New Orleans, the Northshore Prosperity Center in St. Tammany Parish and the Prosperity Center - Bogalusa Campus in Washington Parish.

WHERE:               8324 Morrison Rd., New Orleans, LA 70127

WHY:                    Poverty is the fundamental issue and root cause of many of the social problems in southeast Louisiana. UWSELA’s Blueprint for Prosperity leads a bold vision to eradicate poverty and presents a compelling path toward a stronger, prosperous and more equitable region. Through initiatives like the Prosperity Centers, community members have an opportunity to become empowered and equipped with the knowledge and resources necessary to reach their full potential.

Participants in UWSELA’s Prosperity Centers have experienced significant increases in their credit scores, savings and asset ownership. This success is attributed to the centers' no-judgment approach, expert financial capability of staff and proven programs.

Editor’s note:  Prosperity Center staff and clients will be available for interviews to discuss the impact of the center’s programs and the importance of financial capability in building stronger communities. High resolution photos are available via Dropbox here.
