SUMMARY:ENCORE: Beethoven's "Eroica" feat. cellist Pablo Ferrandez
DESCRIPTION:Presenting Copland's final work for orchestra\, we begin the program with Three Latin American Sketches. Copland himself referred to the tunes\, the rhythms\, and the temperament of the work as "folksy\, while the orchestration is light and snappy." All three movements enlist traditional Latin melodies\, remembering the composer's rural American landscapes. The LPO also welcomes ICMA's 2016 "Young Artist of the Year\," Pablo Ferr ndez. Ferr ndez's brilliant career has evolved through collaborations with internationally renowned artists and world leading orchestras. In his performance of Concerto in C Major by Haydn\, Pablo will bring a compelling technique to this staple of the cello repertoire enhanced by his expert skill and refined expression. Continuing our celebration of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth we'll pay homage to the composer with what is considered to be one of his most celebrated works\, Symphony No. 3\, "Eroica." Grounded in classical tradition\, this symphony also stretches boundaries of form\, length\, and harmony.
