Appointed in January 2026 by Mayor Helena Moreno\, he leads the administration's "Fix the Basics" infrastructure strategy. In this dual role\, he oversees the City's streets\, sidewalks\, street lighting\, including the "Lights On" initiative\, and traffic signals.\n\n\n\nMr. Nelson previously served as General Superintendent of the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) from January 2024 to January 2026\, directing the daily utility and maintenance operations of the City's water\, sewerage and drainage systems. He previously served as Deputy General Superintendent of SWBNO.\n\n\n\nBefore relocating to New Orleans\, Mr. Nelson was a project manager with Century West Engineering in Washington State.
