About ArcGNO
ArcGNO recycles beads, trinkets and parade throws for resale in order to provide wage-earning jobs for individuals with autism, Down syndrome or other developmental disabilities.
Last year, ArcGNO collected over 60 tons of Carnival throws. Thousands of volunteers joined ArcGNO to sort and repackage beads and collectibles, funding over 80 jobs for individuals with disabilities and helping this grass-roots organization to balance its budget. In addition to providing jobs, recycling beads and throws helps make Mardi Gras eco-friendly by keeping items out of catch basins and landfills. Visitors to ArcGNO's Mardi Gras Recycle Center will find a variety of Krewe beads, trinkets and plush, throw beads, boas, and more at lower than retail prices.
ArcGNO is a 501(c)3 nonprofit serving children and adults with intellectual disabilities since 1953. Through education, advocacy and direct support services, ArcGNO empowers nearly 600 individuals throughout the New Orleans metro region to develop, function and live to their fullest potential via the Mardi Gras Recycle Center, as well as other services and programs.Images
